{"id":5456,"date":"2026-04-18T14:33:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T14:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ekarrhh.com\/?p=5456"},"modified":"2026-04-18T14:34:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T14:34:00","slug":"meta-skills-in-teams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ekarrhh.com\/en\/meta-skills-in-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT PROVIDERS DON\u2019T TELL YOU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In many organizations, something happens that\u2019s hard to explain.<br>Companies invest in skills training: feedback, communication, negotiation, leadership\u2026<br>People learn, they understand the tools, they even practice them.<br>But when they return to their day-to-day work, many things remain the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not a training problem.<br>It\u2019s a meta-skills problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are meta-skills?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are the deeper attitudes from which we use our skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the same tool can generate completely different results depending on how it is used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Without respect, feedback turns into criticism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without curiosity, listening becomes just waiting for your turn to speak.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without openness, meetings become a defense of positions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without responsibility, problems repeat and are always \u201csomeone else\u2019s.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without courage, important topics never make it onto the table.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without humility, learning gets blocked.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without deep democracy, teams lose critical information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without passion, work becomes just going through the motions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What we see every day in organizations:<\/strong><br>When these meta-skills are not present, familiar dynamics appear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unproductive conversations, even when techniques are known.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meetings where no one truly changes their mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conflicts that repeat for years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decisions that don\u2019t hold over time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Problems that exist\u2026 but are never named.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The tools are there.<br>But they are not creating impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What changes when they are present?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When these meta-skills are developed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Feedback leads to learning, not defensiveness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conversations create real understanding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conflicts are addressed before they escalate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New perspectives emerge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decisions improve in quality and sustainability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teams regain energy and sense of purpose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not a technical change.<br>It is a change in how people show up and relate to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So\u2026 how are they developed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meta-skills are not built through training alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They require awareness, reflection on one\u2019s role, and understanding the impact we create within the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why their development involves coaching processes\u2014especially team coaching\u2014where what is really happening in relational dynamics can be observed, understood, and transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One key idea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are working on leadership development or team evolution, you probably don\u2019t need more tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to work on the level from which those tools are being used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019d like to explore how to approach this in your organization, we\u2019d be happy to talk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In many organizations, something happens that\u2019s hard to explain.Companies invest in skills training: feedback, communication, negotiation, leadership\u2026People learn, they understand the tools, they even practice them.But when they return to their day-to-day work, many things remain the same.
