And permission isn\u2019t something you sign\u2014it\u2019s something you demonstrate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can approve all the vacation time in the world. But if you\u2019re replying to emails from the beach, your team has already received the message: this isn\u2019t a place where people truly disconnect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Culture isn\u2019t written in any document. It\u2019s reflected in the example you set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disconnecting isn\u2019t about putting your phone away. It\u2019s about trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trusting that your team can keep things running without you. Trusting that nothing will fall apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t turn off your phone, maybe the problem isn\u2019t the phone. If you can\u2019t leave with peace of mind, the issue isn\u2019t that you don\u2019t know how to disconnect\u2014it\u2019s that you haven\u2019t learned to delegate. And that\u2019s something you can work on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s an uncomfortable thought to take with you to the beach:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vacation is the most affordable diagnostic tool your organization has. What falls apart when someone is away reveals who is really holding things together\u2014more than any organizational chart ever could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And what if nothing falls apart without you? Relax. It doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re unnecessary. It means you\u2019ve built something that stands on its own. That\u2019s success, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This summer, we\u2019re talking about rest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the coming weeks, we\u2019ll be sharing a series of short LinkedIn posts about rest and disconnection from a systemic perspective.
